Accommodation

When studying hotel offers, it is worth paying attention to what is the payment for a child’s stay in them. Some hotels offer children a discount of up to 50% of the cost of living, in others you can agree on an extra bed for a child, which will cost 15-20% of the total cost. If you can not get attached to a specific date of your trip, it is useful to look for special offers of hotels for families. A family package may include free accommodation for children and various pleasant surprises, for example, a dessert as a gift, a ticket to the skating rink, etc. A good option is to rent an apartment. Its price usually does not depend on the number of residents, in addition, apartments are usually cheaper than a hotel. Another plus of this choice is the presence of a kitchen where you can cook food familiar to the child. Rented housing also usually has a washing machine, and this eliminates the need to carry a whole suitcase of children’s clothes (and, as a result, eliminates the need to overpay for luggage). Tricks: From the list of hotel services you can exclude inconvenient paid services. For example, you can refuse breakfast if the child sleeps for a long time in the morning or is used to certain foods. We recommend looking for a hotel or apartment away from tourist places – it is more important to focus on the area being quiet and there is a public transport stop near the accommodation. In some countries, you can take for free use a crib, stroller or high chair – they are offered not by hotels, but by ordinary people. Such information is available on sites for travelers. Food The best way to save on food is to cook it yourself. Even in exotic countries, supermarkets offer familiar products from which you can cook food for a conservative child. Catering establishments also allow saving. It is worth choosing those that are slightly removed from the city center – there are lower prices and there are more chances to get acquainted with real local cuisine. At lunchtime, you can use the offers for a business lunch, in which case a full lunch will be cheaper. Trick: take your time ordering unfamiliar foods for your child. It is better to take something traditional for him, and order an unusual food for yourself and offer the baby to try if he likes. So you can get acquainted with the new kitchen, without overpaying for uneaten. Excursion and entertainment program The list of tourist sites that you intend to visit should be prepared in advance. You need to pay attention to the price offers of museums – many do not charge admission fees for preschoolers, and some allow children up to 18 years old to stay for free. Often you can buy a family ticket or a complex ticket to several museums, which is much more profitable than buying individual tickets. Information about this can be found on our website in the reference information about museums and other sightseeing sites. Many cities have tourist cards, such as the Berlin Welcome Card, Vienna Card, Prague Card. They give the right to travel freely in public transport and significantly reduce the cost of visiting museums. In addition, their price often includes a city tour. Tricks: A common practice is that on weekdays and in the morning the price is lower than on weekends and in the afternoon. This is especially true for entertainment venues such as water parks and amusement parks. Some museums and amusement parks sell tickets online – they are cheaper than tickets at the box office. Museums have days of free admission. Up-to-date information on the work of museums and interesting events (festivals, holidays) can be obtained from travel agencies. There you will be provided with a city map for free. Large supermarkets usually have children’s playgrounds – there is no charge for using them; moreover, this is a good option in case of bad weather. On pre-holiday days, for example, on the eve of Christmas, accommodation prices rise significantly. However, Christmas markets with such sweet-hearted attractions for children, shows and sweets open in early December, when housing prices have not yet begun. Our offers are just a part of many ways to rationally manage money while traveling with a child. We will be glad if this information is useful to you and helps you find other options for an economical and enjoyable family vacation.
